Hi my name is Melissa and I’m student from Newcastle trying to get fit. This blog will hold a bunch of my stuff like food recipes, my workouts, my placement diaries (I’m a sport coaching student) and there will be other things like exercises and motivational stuff. If you need any advice and I can answer it I would love to try.

I’m hopefully Back!

I believe i might be in a place where i can start again. New Beginnings I don’t know if other people feel this way, i know i get it every year in August where i always feel so down about life. It basically because for 3 months at least i get my summer holiday people will be scream at there screen and be like WHAT ARE YOU CRYING ABOUT!! but for me it’s horrible, i get bored of life doing the same stuff of working and not having a challenge. GOD HELP ME WHEN I FINISH MY DEGREE!. Anyways I’m back at college doing my 3 year of degree. I’ll talk about that more in a different post and about what i’m doing this year but yes being back at college has given me the motivation to get back in the gym and getting my running shoes on, i know its going to be hard with coaching at the local sport ( again more about that in a different post), college and doing my disseration. Its going to be hard but i think if i plan it out i can get in a routine of doing stuff.

I need my followers help, i know i’ve not been here but hopefully your still out there to help me?

I need organisation tips and tips on fitting in sessions around my work and college timetable?

I dont mind people putting things in my ask box or answering below but yes please will someone help me :D

Feel Slightly lost with my whole eating and fitness atm!

I just can’t be bothered with anything I’ve done quite well with the eating but fitness wise i’ve done noting was meant to go for a run nope didn’t happen slept in and now i’m heading to a pub for a pub crawl why do i feel so bad at this keeping fit thing!!

New goals set for this month

I have set 4 basic goals for this month well till the 3rd of september.

  • Run 15 miles within the month
  • To be on my 5th week of couch to 5K and have not skipped a session
  • Go to the gym 3 times a week
  • To try and eat clean and healthy

My Olympic Time So Far and My Experience’s Being Here

OMG 

Where do i even start. I am loving it so far, I’ve watch pretty much all the sport so far with gymnastics and horse riding being my main attention so far. I love sport overall its something i have been extremely proud to be involved with and wanted a career in sport most my life. 

Below is photo’s off the BBC website and the sport and people i have been following including Rowing which i never knew i really liked watching i had taken part in a couple of races when i was younger but was never a huge fan but watching it has totally changed my view on it. 

I was extremely lucky to get tickets to go and see the Brazil vs New Zealand men’s football match at St James Park which is in the stadium in my city. It was the mot amazing atmosphere i have ever seen at a football match. Brazil won 3-0 but i think everyone knew that but the atmosphere again was amazing. Here are some photo both off my phone and the internet. 

so i saw the football but my sister went one step further and went to London and saw the handball match against Team GB and France we lost but she said again the atmosphere was amazing with the audience and crowd getting involved cheering the team on. This as well was the first time Team GB had qualified to plat handball in the Olympic that was a massive achievement in itself. I have to admit the Olympics being in London and around the UK has been amazing so far the support the pupil have been giving the team is amazing. Thanks for read my post.

These are my holiday picture. This Holiday was so good apart from having extremely burnt feet and chest. the best part of the holiday was being able to wearing bikini without a care in the world. We did tones of really cool stuff including paragliding, rode camels, went on a pedal boat in the sea ( that was one good workout on the legs lets just say that.), partied with the drag queens and sang karaoke. 

30 DAY RUNNING CHALLENGE! DAY 1-2-3-4-5

1. When did you start running?

I started running about 2 months ago but i didn’t a lot but maybe 2 weeks before my holiday as i started using a 5K app to try and get some more motivation. 

2. Why did you continue to run?

the main reason i tried to keep running was so that i could get fitter as when i was at school i was fit because i did netball and trampolining every day but since leaving school i have still stayed in the sport education but taking part hasn’t been a large part so i made a change for myself to get fit by going to the gym and attempting to run more often. 

3. What ultimate running goal would you like to accomplish?

the goal i would like to do is maybe a marathon but that is a long way away for me so i came to the conclusion this year i would run two 5K next year and if i could i would attempt the great north run which is a half marathon but again that is a maybe as im not 100% sure i would ever be able to run that far.

4. Tell us about your first ever race or when you plan to start?

I haven’t done a race but i haven’t also planned a race as i’m not 100% sure if there are a lot of them in newcastle. i know that the the race for life is normally once a year but i’ve just missed that race so im not clear when or where my first race may be. 

5. Whats your favorite distance to run or race and why?

Well this is a easy question to answer as i have only race 1 distance which is 2 miles. i know its not a lot but i’m working extremely hard i believe to try and get further. i try to run at least 2 miles without walking i’m a extremely happy girl but lately i started a training plan which you walk 1.5 minutes and run a minute for two minutes. I hope by the end of the summer i can run 3 miles without stopping.

I go on holiday in 2 days.

I’m so excited but do i feel like i look beach body ready no but that is basically because i was 100% with everything i was doing. i do tho feel slightly more confident with my body and the way i look plus i believe i am becoming more healthier .

Exercise :- Running

Time:- 30:02    /   Distance :-  3.77Koliometers    /   Average Speed :- 07:58

I started this new 5k training app to try and help me train to do some type of 5K next year. as im not a brilliant runner i thought this would be a good thing to try. Well how did i do. Well i believe i did really good this was the 2nd attempt at this the 1st time went horrifically wrong in all way it could have went but today it went really good. From the picture taking from the app you can see that you do a 5 minute warm up and then a minute running and a minute and a half of walking and this increase over a certain amount of week to make it easier to get someone in the motion of running for a long period of time.  it works out you walk for 12 and run for 8 but i didn’t stop once and when running or walking which again im proud of as i normally stop half way through. today was a good day to go running as today was Newcastle’s Cyclone Event (Talk about in next post). So i was totally motivated when doing my run. i think i will try this once more and then decrease the walking time or see what the next stage is on the app. I ran my Runkeeper app at the same time as i like to check the speed i did and how far i ran. i had an average speed of 07:58 which i think is good for me. 

Next Time 

-   I want to try and get further when doing the training.

-   Get a faster average past throughout the workout as well.

Happy Father Day Dad.
Hope you have a good day and sorry i haven’t seen you in a while. Thank you for being there for me and i know we don’t speak as much any more and that is because you moved away and i learnt to grow up and take responsibility of myself and money. you were there for me when mam wasn’t and you were there for me at school at all the trampolining competition and even coming to training for 3 hours and took my 2 team mates in like daughters. 
Thank you dad for being their when i need to you most.
